Growing up, Simmy was raised by strict parents who instilled in her a strong work ethic and dedication to her studies. She attended the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where she studied Social Sciences. But Simmy’s true passion lay in music, and she didn’t let anything stand in her way.
Career
In 2013, while still at university, Simmy crossed paths with Sandile Sithole, who introduced her to Sun-El Musician. This meeting would change the course of her life forever. After completing her degree, Simmy made the bold decision to relocate to Johannesburg in 2015 to pursue her musical career full-time.
With her unique blend of Electronic Dance, Experimental Pop, and Afro-Pop music, Simmy quickly caught the attention of audiences and industry insiders alike. Her debut studio album, “Tugela Fairy,” released in 2018 under EL World Music, propelled her to stardom. Hits like “Ngiyesaba,” “Ubala,” and “Umahlalela” showcased Simmy’s talent and earned her widespread acclaim. The album was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA), solidifying her status as a bona fide music sensation.
But Simmy’s journey was just beginning. In 2020, she released her second studio album, “Tugela Fairy (Made of Stars),” which debuted at number 3 in the charts. With each new release, Simmy continues to push boundaries and captivate audiences with her soulful vocals, meaningful lyrics, and infectious beats.
