Masšh is an African electronic artist from Johannesburg, South Africa. The unique melody he calls ‘astral’ is derived from a phrase used in esotericism to describe an intentional out-of-body experience that posits the existence of a soul or awareness, ‘astral projection’.
His sound is influenced by gloomy classical music, as well as his preference for tone and mood above traditional musical structure or rhythm, which he conveys through African grooves and electronic noises.
Masšh is a new music producer/DJ based in Johannesburg, South Africa. His recent releases piqued my interest right away. His inspirations originate from jazz and South African dance music, and they serve as the foundation for his mix for UM.
