During her college years, at just 20 years old, Msaki joined an alternative rock band, marking the beginning of her musical odyssey. She later became a guitarist and lead vocalist for various musical groups, including the electro-experimental band Johnny Cradle and the duo Kate and I. Her musical pursuits led her to attend a music school in North Carolina, USA, in 2012, further honing her craft and expanding her horizons.

Career

In 2013, Msaki established her own record label, One Shushu Day Artistry, and released her debut Extended Play (EP) titled “Nal’ithemba,” showcasing her talent as both a performer and a producer. The EP garnered attention and laid the foundation for her subsequent success in the industry.

Her breakthrough came with the release of her debut solo studio album, “Zaneliza: How The Water Moves,” in 2016. The album received critical acclaim, earning her accolades such as the Gold Award First Place at the Cape Town Fringe and nominations at prestigious award ceremonies like the South African Music Awards.

Msaki’s musical prowess and captivating vocals caught the attention of audiences beyond South Africa’s borders. She collaborated with renowned artists such as DJ Prince Kaybee on the chart-topping song “Fetch Your Life” and Kelly Khumalo on the hit single “Undithatha Kancinci.” Her collaborations and solo projects continued to showcase her versatility and creativity, earning her widespread recognition and acclaim.
